There are a few items that can add a touch of sophistication to your home and demonstrate that you are a true grown-up. These items are, of course, bookshelves, bar carts, and, perhaps most importantly, indoor plants. Unfortunately, most people are not plant experts and do not know where to begin (admittedly, the first step is to admit it). Many of us simply jump right into plant parenting. We visit our local nursery and purchase whatever looks nice. You may be under the misconception that you simply need a lot of sunlight and green fingers to keep houseplants alive. However, there are many indoor plants that are easy to take care of, forgiving, and tolerant of low-light conditions. If you are still not a full-fledged plant parent because you have not found the right low-maintenance foliage, then you are in the right place. Here, we have compiled a list of the simplest varieties of indoor plants that will not try to compete with your already overcrowded windowsill, or at the very least houseplants that can tolerate being in a shaded corner of your space.

A trailing plant native to Southeast Asia, Pothos is capable of reaching a height of up to 10 feet.
